What is Static ad?
A static ad is a paid ad built from a single still image plus its copy. On Facebook and Instagram it runs as a single image ad, which Meta's format pages call a photo ad. The image usually carries a hook, the product and some proof, while Meta places primary text above it, a headline below it and a call-to-action button. Static ads differ from video ads, which move, and from carousel ads, which hold two to ten swipeable cards.
Meta's Ads Guide recommends 4:5 images at 1440 x 1800 pixels for Facebook and Instagram feeds and 9:16 images at 1440 x 2560 pixels for Stories and Reels. Advertisers use statics because they are quick to produce and test, which helps keep a steady flow of different ads in an account.
