What is AI info label?
An AI info label is the label Meta adds to Facebook, Instagram and Threads content created or edited with generative AI. On ads, Meta applies it when its own generative AI tools create or significantly edit an image or video, and shows it in the three-dot menu or next to Sponsored. It appears next to Sponsored whenever the ad includes an AI-generated photorealistic person.
Meta also reads industry-standard signals, such as C2PA and IPTC metadata, that other AI tools write into files. In June 2026 it said it would begin using such signals to label ads made with third-party AI tools inside About this ad. Meta renamed the label from Made with AI to AI info in July 2024.
